Office 365 Hangs On Running Package Scripts Software Until I

It seems okay, but I have Safari 5.1.1 I dont want to try to update the software until I know there wont be any additional problems.

Again, any advice.

The installer (through software update) has been stuck for 60 minutes on my MacBook Pro.

What gives Can I for quit and start again Searching for help on my iPhone.

It took a long time for the my laptop to restart, but it did and is fine.

However, I then wondered if the update was scanning the filesystem so I rebooted a third time, ejected my 750GB USB external drive (which also has Time Machine backups on it if at all relevant) and the update took no problem, completing in less than a minute or so.

So, it would be useful to understand whether those people having problems have USB connected drivesdevices like I had Anyway, Safari 5.1.2 all OK now, lets hope its a little more stable than 5.1.1 which seemed to continually freeze on my iMac.

In Finder, choose Go Goto Folder.

Type in LibraryUpdates 3.

Select all the files in this folder and move them to the Trash (you can always put them back if Im wrong) 4.

The software update process should be verifying downloads before installing them, but apparently is not doing it correctly.

Make sure you have exited Safari before proceeding with the installation.

Or do it manually: from the Finder go to LibraryUpdates041-3552 and double-click on Safari5.1.2Lion.pkg.

I found out who had Safari open using ps auwwx grep Safari in a terminal session, then killed it as root.

The progress bar unfroze, and the install ran to completion.

Each time I would just do the hard shut down (holding down the power button for a few seconds), and then start the iMac back up and it would resume to normal operation (yet with no updates).

Then, just now, I turned off Time Machine in the system preferences, ejectedunmounted my 2 TB external HD that is the Time Machine backup, I unplugged the USB cable from the back of the iMac, then re-ran Software Update to re-download these two updates and attempt the re-install.

Machine rebooted, ran the update in five minutes or so, then I logged back into my user account, plugged my USB external HD back in, turned Time Machine back on, re-selected the disk, and Im up and running Glad to know I could get the update done unplugging the external drive.

I didnt even have to reboot the machine or kill the installer.

The installation resumed and completed after time machine was stopped.
